URL Launched in Frameset Causes Loss of Keyboard Functionality

Technote Number: 1173464

Problem:
The root of the problem is the AutoFrame property of the form in the frameset.
This issue can be reproduced only when all 3 of the following are true:

- the "Internet Browser" setting of the client's Location document is set to
"Notes with Internet Explorer"
- the form in the frameset is set to AutoFrame
- the user's Mail file is open.

If these conditions are true, after you type something into any field and
attempt to use the Backspace key (or any key which control cursor movement,
such as Page Up, Page Down and the arrow keys) you will lose complete keyboard
functionality in all applications while this document is opened.

This issue has been reported to Quality Engineering (SPR #FBEE5VLSE7). It will
not be addressed in the R5.x codestream.

This issue has been addressed in Notes releases 6.0.5 and 6.5.4.

Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Domino Release 6.5.4 and 6.0.5 MR fix list
(available at http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus/):

Client
SPR# FBEE5VLSE7 - Internet Explorer launched with multiple frames will no
longer cause loss of keyboard functionality in other document editors.

There are several workarounds:

- Launch the mail file AFTER typing the URL in and launching the URL
or
- Make an 'Internet Browser' selection other than "Notes with Internet
Explorer" in the Location document (Select File > Mobile > Edit Current
Location and switch to the Internet Browser tab of the Location document.)
or
- Highlight the text and type over it
or
- In Domino Designer, disable the Auto Frame functionality in the form by
opening the form and doing the following: select Design > Form Properties >
switch to the 3rd tab of the Form properties box (InfoBox), and deselect the
frame next to "Auto Frame" (select the blank line in the drop-down).
